We are passionate equestrians with a love for the saddle horse. The American Saddlebred, Hackney, and Morgan horses are remarkable animals, and we love showcasing our fun and versatile animals. IHSA is a great way to continue to support the breeds you love to riders and horse lovers of all ages.

IHSA prides itself on the diversity of its members, and is a great way to meet a variety of people who share your passion for the show horse. IHSA sponsors not only an annual awards banquet, but also several youth activities, to promote camaraderie among all barns. From the horse shows to the banquets, it is a great way to meet other show horse enthusiasts and learn more about our special breeds. In addition, IHSA will provide you news about horse shows, clinics, meetings and anything else affecting Saddlebreds in Iowa and the nation.

If you have a horse or plan to show, IHSA offers a chance to compete for high point awards in over 75 different divisions, performance horse memorial trophies, youth highpoint trophies, sportsmanship awards and more. We encourage and support members showing at a variety of shows throughout the Midwest circuit, ranging from B circuit shows to World National Championships.

For the love of the sport

We encourage you to be an active participant. IHSA is a non-profit organization, made up of volunteers just like you. Membership and horse nomination fees are our primary source of revenue. We use these fees to not only fund our many show horse related activities such as junior judging, the awards banquet, and youth programming. By becoming a member, you’ll help shape the future of the saddle horse breeds in the Iowa.
